Zakat Calculator Pakistan
Add up your gold, silver, cash, savings and business assets, take off what you owe, and see if you are above the nisab. If you are, your Zakat at 2.5% is shown in rupees.
Nisab: 52.5 tola (612.36 g) silver or 7.5 tola (87.48 g) gold · Last updated 19 October 2026
1. Gold and silver prices
Use the current selling rate from your local sarafa market or jeweller.
2. Nisab basis
Silver is the default. In the Hanafi school, mixed assets (gold with cash, silver or trade goods) are measured against the silver nisab. Choose gold only if all your zakatable wealth is gold, or if your scholar advises it.
3. What you own
Values on your Zakat date. Leave anything that does not apply empty.
4. What you owe
Debts and bills due now. Scholars differ on which debts to deduct.
Your Zakat
Zakat is due only on wealth at or above the nisab that you have owned for one full lunar year (hawl). Estimate only. Please confirm with a qualified scholar before paying.
For reference: the Government’s bank-deduction nisab
For Zakat year 1446-47 AH, the Government notified Rs 503,529 (notification of 16 February 2026). Banks deduct Zakat at source from savings, profit-and-loss sharing and similar accounts holding this amount or more on 1 Ramazan. It is a bank threshold, not your personal nisab.
How the calculation works
- Gold and silver are valued at the price you enter: weight × price per tola (or per gram).
- Cash, bank balances, business stock, loans you have given and investments are added to give your total assets.
- What you owe now is subtracted to give your net zakatable wealth.
- The nisab is 52.5 tola × your silver price (or 7.5 tola × your gold price if you choose gold).
- If your net wealth is at or above the nisab and you have held the nisab for a full lunar year, Zakat is 2.5% of it.
Example: with silver at Rs 6,000 a tola, the silver nisab is 52.5 × Rs 6,000 = Rs 315,000. Net zakatable wealth of Rs 600,000 is above it, so Zakat is 2.5% × Rs 600,000 = Rs 15,000.
How nisab is calculated
The nisab in the Sunnah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said there is no Zakat on less than five awaq of silver (Sahih al-Bukhari 1447). Five awaq are 200 dirhams. For gold, the nisab is 20 dinars, and on 200 dirhams the Zakat is 5 dirhams and on 20 dinars half a dinar, once a year has passed (Sunan Abi Dawud 1573). That is one-fortieth, or 2.5% (Sahih al-Bukhari 1454).
| Nisab | Classical measure | Tola | Grams |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | 200 dirhams (5 awaq) | 52.5 | 612.36 |
| Gold | 20 mithqal (dinars) | 7.5 | 87.48 |
The weights follow the Darul Ifta of Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia Allama Banuri Town, Karachi, which quotes Mufti Muhammad Shafi’s Awzan-e-Shar’iyyah: one dirham is 3.0618 g, one mithqal is 4.374 g, and the tola used for Zakat is 11.664 g. Pakistan’s Zakat and Ushr Ordinance 1980 writes the silver figure as 612.32 g. The difference is tiny, and this calculator uses 612.36 g.
Turning it into rupees. Nisab = nisab weight × today’s price. For example, with silver at Rs 6,000 a tola, the silver nisab is 52.5 × Rs 6,000 = Rs 315,000. In per-gram mode it is 612.36 × the price per gram. The tola here is 11.664 g. If your jeweller quotes a different tola or a price per 10 grams, use the per-gram mode.
Why silver for mixed assets. In the Hanafi school, gold, silver, cash and trade goods are added together by value. If the total reaches the value of 52.5 tola of silver, Zakat is due, even if no single item reaches its own nisab. The gold nisab of 7.5 tola is used only when you own gold and nothing else that is zakatable. Choose “Gold” above only in that case, or if your scholar advises it.
One full lunar year (hawl). Zakat is due only when you have owned at least the nisab for one full Islamic (lunar) year. Your Zakat date is the Islamic date on which you first owned the nisab. Work out your wealth on that date each year.
What is included. Gold and silver in any form, including jewellery; cash at home and in the bank; trade goods at their sale value; shares and investments; and loans you have given that you expect to get back. You may pay the Zakat on a loan when it is repaid, but you then pay for every year that has passed (Banuri Town fatwa 144503100661). Your home, car, furniture, personal belongings, machinery and property you rent out are not included (the rent you have saved is).
What is deducted. Debts and bills that are due now. Zakat is 2.5% of what remains, your net zakatable wealth.

Frequently asked questions
What is the nisab for Zakat?
The Prophet (peace be upon him) set the nisab at 200 dirhams of silver (5 awaq) and 20 dinars (mithqal) of gold. In today’s weights that is 52.5 tola (612.36 grams) of silver or 7.5 tola (87.48 grams) of gold. Its rupee value changes with the price of silver and gold, so enter today’s price.
Should I use the silver or the gold nisab?
In the Hanafi school followed by most people in Pakistan, if you own only gold, the gold nisab of 7.5 tola applies. If you own gold together with silver, cash or trade goods, their values are added together and compared with the silver nisab of 52.5 tola. That is why silver is the default. If you follow a particular scholar, use their ruling.
Does a full year have to pass?
Yes. Zakat becomes due when wealth at or above the nisab has been owned for one full lunar (Islamic) year, called the hawl.
Is the Rs 503,529 bank figure my nisab?
Not necessarily. Rs 503,529 is the threshold the Government notified for Zakat year 1446-47 AH for deducting Zakat at source from savings, profit-and-loss sharing and similar bank accounts on 1 Ramazan. Your own nisab depends on today’s silver or gold price.
How much is Zakat?
Zakat is one-fortieth, which is 2.5%, of your net zakatable wealth, if that wealth is at or above the nisab. This calculator adds up your zakatable assets, subtracts debts due now and applies 2.5%.
Does this calculator use live gold and silver rates?
No. You enter the price yourself, for example the current rate from your local sarafa market or jeweller. Nothing is fetched or saved.
Please consult a scholar. This calculator gives an estimate to help you prepare. Scholars differ on points such as jewellery in regular use, which debts to deduct, how to value business stock and how to treat Zakat already deducted by your bank. Please ask a qualified scholar or mufti before you pay.
